Burger Steak

Try your hand at creating this pork and tofu burger patty, bathed in a sweet tomato-based sauce with sliced mushrooms.

½ cupWhite Bread(diced to make ½ cup)
1 tbspEvaporated Milk 
125 gramsGround Pork 
1 pcTokwa(chopped)
1 pcEgg(beaten)
¼ cupOnion(chopped)
3 clovesGarlic(minced)
½ tspSalt 
¼ tbspBlack Pepper 
2 tbspCooking Oil(for sauteing)
3 tbspCanned Mushroom(for the sauce, sliced)
1 literWater(for the sauce)
1 ¼ tspBrown Sugar(for the sauce)
Patis(for the sauce, to taste)
Black Pepper(for the sauce, to taste)
2 tbspGreen Peas(for the sauce, frozen or cooked, optional)
1 pouch (200 grams)Del Monte
Filipino Style Tomato Sauce
(for the sauce)

Cooking Procedure:

  1. Combine bread and milk, mixing until bread is soggy. Add pork, tokwa, egg, onion, and half of garlic. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well.

  2. Divide into 10 portions (about 1 1/2 Tbsp each) and form into patties. Pan-grill until brown on both sides. Set aside.

  3. Saute remaining garlic and mushrooms. Add DEL MONTE Filipino Style Tomato Sauce, water, brown sugar, patis, and pepper, to taste. Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes.

  4. Add green peas and patties. Allow to Simmer.

    Makes 5 servings
